Some may recall that the Reining Nails website once contained music – ambient soundscapes, harsh noise and other amorphous aural experiments. While most of it was as unsatisfying as it sounds, I’ve begun collecting, remastering and repackaging the scraps I’m still satisfied with under my music moniker at the time, can of zebras. I’ll be uploading the songs periodically on the website and the new can of zebras YouTube channel. The tracks came from a period of influences including John Cage, Morton Feldman, Brian Eno, Aphex Twin, early Sonic Youth, Erik Satie, Brighter Death Now, Daniel Johnston and fusion-era Miles Davis. If you recognize any of those names, you may be able to appreciate what once was can of zebras. Above is a link to “Tear Mud” off of the upcoming first collection, Pregnant with Glass.
